My previous featured quote was by Gary Zukav – a quote that rings true of life, one that resonates deeply with the essence of life. It reflects the spiritual and philosophical principle of karma – the idea that our actions, words and intentions create ripples – ripples that eventually return to us and that continue to shape our experiences.
I felt it was important to elaborate on this idea.
The Ripple Effect of Actions
Every action we take impacts others. Whether we are aware of it or not, our behaviour influences the emotions, thoughts and actions of those around us. When we create discord, anger, sadness, or conflict in another person – it sets off a chain reaction for us. That negative energy doesn’t vanish; it circulates in the interconnected web of existence and eventually finds its way back to us. Similarly – creating harmony, peace, joy, or empowerment will also send positive ripples that eventually return.
Loop of 'cause and effect'
This principle operates on the understanding that this process is interconnected and cyclical – meaning our actions and the energy we create, ripple through our shared connections and will eventually return to us. Experiencing the effects of what we have given to others, means we become part of a continuous loop of cause and effect. This cycle teaches us the importance of empathy, as it reveals how our choices influence not just others – but also ourselves in return. It is important to stand back, and to think about your situation, before you speak and act.
Instead Choose to Align with Higher Vibrations
When we generate discord, we align ourselves with lower, chaotic vibrations. Over time, these vibrations attract similar chaotic experiences into our lives. Conversely, when we empower others and foster harmony, we align with higher vibrations that attract positivity.
Mirror Effect
Our internal state has an effect on what happens in the external world – our actions do mirror back. We should remember that as we go about our lives. What we hand out we will get back. We're seeing it in politics, the very institutions that set their intentions for us – this is replicating back into society and into the world – if we contribute to someone’s discord personally, we are creating a mirror of disharmony that will also eventually come back to us. This manifests in struggles, conflicts and inner turmoil. This idea suggests that we are all connected through a shared field of consciousness. The energy we share with others comes back to us, not intended as a punishment, but as a way for us to learn and grow. The problem is that many view it as punishment, which leads them to continue projecting the same punishment onto others, usually in a revengeful manner. Feeling the harmony or discord we create can help us to see the impact of our actions through other people's eyes, building our compassion and sense of responsibility.

Universal Justice
The "return of energy" aligns with a broader spiritual justice system – one that seeks out balance. It's as though the universe is nudging us, to ask us to think about the weight of our influence, for us to learn to use it wisely.
There are always applications you can apply practically.
Spirituality encourages us to:
Act with awareness, ensure your intentions are rooted in kindness, understanding, tolerance and respect. Before speaking or acting, reflect on whether your actions will uplift or harm others. Ask yourself, “How would I feel if I were in their position?” Always make a conscious effort to leave situations and people better than you found them.
Lifetimes and Evolution
In some spiritual traditions, it is believed that unresolved karma carries forward into future incarnations. For example: If we create discord in one lifetime, we can experience similar challenges in another, as part of our soul’s growth. Acts of empowerment and harmony, contribute to spiritual evolution, leading to greater fulfillment and peace in future lives. Conversely, fostering discord in this life towards others, may lead to encountering similar karmic challenges in the present.
Conclusion
Karma serves as a reminder that we are creators of our own light and dark, but by fostering positivity, harmony and empowerment, we can set ourselves on a path toward greater spiritual alignment. Conversely, when we act in ways that create pain or discord, we will ultimately experience the consequences of that misalignment, both as a lesson and an opportunity for growth. Sadly, many struggle to learn the lesson.
