MIRACLES

Do you believe in miracles? Have you experienced miracles in your life? I am not referring to miracles such as the miraculous healings that occur at Lourdes, or visions and Marian apparitions. I am referring to small miracles that take place in our everyday life.?

Perhaps one day you were craving that wonderful rye bread with caraway seeds, and you find the last freshly baked loaf waiting for you to take home with you. Or you happen to be out food shopping, and you are pleasantly surprised to find those hard-to-find gorgeous yellow tulips that brighten your day and your living room. Or perhaps you were feeling lonely or missing a loved one, and you receive a note with words of encouragement from a friend who cares about you.

God speaks to us in those simple and mundane events of daily life. Those small miracles can easily be missed and go unnoticed unless we perceive them with eyes of faith and live with an awareness of God's presence with us and around us. God is always speaking to us, but we receive only in the measure of our openness to his grace.?

Have you witnessed a breathtaking sunrise with its amazing colors of red, orange and yellow? That is God speaking to us and gifting us with a new day. Have you looked at the vast ocean and marveled at God's creation? Have you looked up at the blue sky and tried to make out the shapes of the beautiful white clouds scattered here and there? That is God speaking to us through His creation.

Miracles are everywhere because God is everywhere. Let us not miss them.
