Miracle Money – Genuine or Fallacy

Miracle Money – Genuine or Fallacy

There is a new fad in the modern African Charismatic movement (an offshoot actually) known and touted as miracle money that has been popularly promoted by what I am going to term as the modern African prophetic movement.

I use those words with much care and caution, because when one studies the qualities of these “prophets”, they leave much to be desired. I say so because they operate on the fringes of the mainline churches. I am not going to explain what I mean in this paragraph because that would extend beyond the scope of this article but will instead tackle the subject herein.

In order to do this topic justice, I must first take a look and define what a miracle is. It is an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause. In simpler terms, when God violates His own laws within the natural realm to bring about an effect, then that is a miracle.

Money on the other can be defined as a medium of exchange within a given society and is used to pay for goods or services. It is also defined as an idea, backed by confidence, representing work truly done, and is exchangeable.

Let us quickly break down the four items.

Firstly, it is an idea. As we all know, money is an idea that came about as a way to quantify value. Value is intrinsic but personal. Value relates to something that is perceived as important and useful. The more important it is, the more valuable it becomes.

Secondly, it is backed by confidence. Everyone in a given community or country has to have confidence in the systems behind money. That means money can only be seen as money if government and financial institutions like banks accept it as such.

Thirdly, it is represented by work truly done. In short it translates into wages, which are paid with money. Therefore, work done is always a prerequisite of receiving money. The more work is done, the more money one should get.

And lastly, is exchangeable. Money should be convenient and portable so that it can be easily given to someone in payment for work done or in order to facilitate purchases of goods and services.

Seeing what money truly is, one obvious conclusion is seen. Money is an effect. It comes as a result of a service rendered or goods sold. Without these two, money cannot occur.

So then, how would we define miracle money?

Taking the terms above, we can summarize and thus say that it is when income is generated in the absence of either goods or services by supernatural means. Simply put, its money that comes without any work done.

Can such a thing happen?

Most definitely! Yes it can. I would not be a genuine Christian if I did not believe in the capacity of a Supreme God to operate in ways that transcend natural laws and boundaries.

Can such a thing then become a method or system from which we can access income indefinitely?

A big fat no! And the answer is very simple. We live in a physical universe in which we have laws of nature which are interwoven within its fabric. One of the most profound and intrinsic principles of the natural universe is one known as Causality. It is also known as Reciprocity or more commonly Sowing and Reaping.

When Noah came out of the ark, God made a declaration which I quote below…

While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Gen 8:22 KJV)

Now since money is an effect and comes as a direct result of an action that precedes it, usually in the form of work done or goods given, it obeys this law and is inextricably bound by it. Anything outside of this principle is not sustainable.

Now we all know that any principle or law of nature becomes that way because it can be predicted accurately and repeated indefinitely when all factors are present. You have another law in nature that everyone is aware of called the Law of Gravity. Its effects are real, predictable and consistent.

If the law of gravity is broken by supernatural means, it is considered miraculous like say if someone were to float off the ground without any means of propulsion or walk off the edge of the building and walk on air!

It is also true that if someone simply prayed and instantly received money without any work done, this could be considered a miracle.

Incidents of Supernatural or Miraculous Provision in Scripture

The first recorded case of miraculous provision as far as this author understands in scripture is Abraham’s sacrificial lamb that took the place of Isaac in Genesis. Other noteworthy miraculous provisions are Manna in the wilderness, the widow of Zarepath and her bowl of flour and oil, the prophet’s apprentice’s widow and children via the jar of oil and even Jesus and the fish that had money in its mouth which was used to pay tax or the 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes that multiplied into twelve baskets of food.

What is significant here is that all the above miracles took place under a specific environment. Specifically it was a hostile one. This meant that under the circumstances and situation, there was no means of generating the means to living.

There is an underlying principle governing the miraculous which unfortunately our modern “prophets” are being deliberately economic with the truth on. They are not being wholly open to teach people to understand what governs them.

I will be more forthcoming so that it can help us to know when to request and trigger the miraculous, and when it isn’t possible to do so.

Do bear in mind that above all these things we may speak here, God is sovereign. That means he can do as He pleases according to His pleasure and will without being controlled by anyone.

That means no amount of manipulation can move God except He chooses to. Based on this fundamental truth, let us now see how the miraculous works.

There are three distinct phases in the life of the believer (specifically those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour) that are cyclical. They occur in a sequence repeatedly. These three phases can be typified by looking at the children of Israel as they were freed from Egypt, their lives in the wilderness and finally their arrival and possession of Canaan, their promised land.

I will equate them and call them i) Seed Provision, ii) Supernatural Provision and iii) Locational Provision

With Seed Provision, whenever we start any endeavour or life, God will provide all the raw materials we need – always. These come in the form of our gifts, talents and abilities. They will also be further aided with time and effort leveraged by skill. In certain instances even money does get provided as well. This is precisely what happened to the Israelites as they were leaving Egypt. God caused their neighbours to be exceptionally generous and give them much jewellery and provisions for their journey.

With Supernatural Provision, the children of Israel were in a hostile environment. Whenever one finds themselves in an environment that they cannot be able to sow, God always moves in and provides miraculous sustenance.

Take for instance, the Manna, it was provided in the desert. But note some very interesting things about it…

Firstly, it could only last one day. If it was kept till the following day, it would rot and have maggots. That means it was only to be used to meet the need as it occurred. Miraculous provision will only operate within the confines of its provision and not beyond!

Secondly, it had no seed! This is profound! What this means is that it cannot be planted. It has no capacity within itself to generate or be duplicated. Miracles are standalone events that cannot be repeated as a law can.

There is no such thing as a law to manifesting a miraculous life of provision and sustenance. That is being deceptive.

Indeed when one is in a hostile environment, God will sustain supernaturally as shown, but the miraculous provision does not have within it the capacity to be repeatedly planted and harvested. Manna only came as a daily provision unlike seeds that come as a seasonal provision and can be stored for long periods beyond their season only to be planted and produce a crop.

With Locational Provision, once one has entered into their location or domain of purpose, all that was provided miraculously must be directed toward their ground and sown. If this does not occur, there shall be no harvest.

It is critical that one lock down their potential and sow into it as soon as they arrive at their location. When the Children of Israel arrived in Canaan and harvested their first crop, Manna ceased.

It is also true of us, once we have arrived at our location and domain; God will no longer supply our sustenance miraculously, but will push us into planting! It is therefore critical that we know which season we are in, whether be it the Seed Provision, Supernatural Provision or Locational Provision.

Conclusion

So then, is miracle money real? Not in the way it is being touted.

What we see here is pure theatrics and entertainment designed to lure people into the danger of reaping where no sowing has been done. Miracle money appeals to those that are lazy and not willing to work. It is seducing to those that want something for nothing. It is entreating to those that have an entitlement and dependency mindset.

The Scriptures are very clear, let those that do not work not eat. It is also very clear when it comes to provision. Anyone who has the capacity to work, who is not sick or disabled, or is a widow who has no children to care for her, or an orphaned child, these must be given and provided for by the church and community at large.

Let those that have the means stretch their hands to provide for those who do not have. He that gives to the poor lends to God and God is no debtor of man. Furthermore God will bless those who take care of the less privileged in Society. When we help the hungry, thirsty, naked, stranger (alien/foreigner), sick or prisoner, we are the hand of God in society.

God wields miracles through flesh and blood (people).

So, don’t buy into the lie of miracle money as it is being taught. You cannot advertise such and ask people to carry Ukwa bags for loading up with money when it comes raining down from wherever. That is deceptive. Worst of all, it is just not sustainable.

Justly put, if the above miracle money as espoused by these so called prophets were real, why do they ask for an offering? Why not just “manifest” that money whenever they need it?

The answer is very simple my friend, all things on this side of eternity and the universe are bound by causality. No effect can happen without a cause. They are bound by the law of conservation of energy. All energy in whatever form it comes be it matter, heat, light, sound or waves is constant, and for it to change from one form to another, there must be an active outward and deliberate force.

This is true of money and shall remain so for as long as the Earth (read Universe) as we know it remains.
