How to pack like a boss when you can only take hand luggage on your lengthy business trip.
You want to travel cheaper, faster and easier (or you don’t have a choice) but how to make sure you’re not going to be caught short at the other end? Especially on those pesky airlines that don’t let you have a bag for under the seat as well as in the overhead locker.
- Check the weather forecast of your destination so you can make some (unreliably) informed decisions.
- Actually plan each outfit and don’t take any more than you need.
- Make a list - if it’s names not down then it’s not getting in.
- Take light clothes - they will take up less space and can be easily washed and quickly dried if needed.
- Make sure all your clothes are in a similar colour palette and are versatile to be worn for day or night wear.
- Pack your shoes at the bottom and stuff with your socks or other small items.
- Buy all your toiletries when you get there.
- Wear heavier clothes and coats, etc. on the plane (and five pairs of pants if you’re so inclined.)
- Merino wool is super-lightweight, keeps you warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather and you can wear it for days on end and it still won’t smell.
- Roll several garments together at a time to reduce creasing and use rubber bands to hold them together tighter.
