Ministers Announce Details Of Budget 2023 For Tourism And Transport

Minister Catherine Martin TD and Minister of State Jack Chambers TD have announced details of €1,142 million in gross funding allocated to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media in?Budget?2023 . These new funding streams and measures run in parallel and addition to the wider, all-of-society cost-of-living support measures announced by the government in Budget 2023. Separately, the government has announced a package of horizontal supports, helping citizens, practitioners, organisations and groups manage the current cost-of-living increases. The department’s tourism services programme aims to support the industry to recover and grow in a sustainable way.

Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland have welcomed funding announced as part of Budget 2023 . Fáilte Ireland said that it welcomes the tourism specific and wider economic measures announced in Budget 2023, with its CEO, Paul Kelly, stating, "The funding for the tourism sector secured by Minister Catherine Martin TD will ensure we can continue our important work of implementing recovery programmes and campaigns to help deliver economic growth of the industry and individual tourism businesses. There are significant challenges facing the tourism sector and the viability of some tourism businesses is a real concern. Funding has been maintained in Budget 2023 for Fáilte Ireland to specifically ensure we can continue to support tourism businesses through our key initiatives and campaigns."

The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn, Northern Ireland, has confirmed that it will open a new outdoor spa offering exclusively for residents from 1 December, following a €2.8 million investment to bring Galgorm’s hospitality and spa offering to the property. The new Treetop Spa at the Old Inn will see the addition of a range of new experiences, including a hydrotherapy pool, a steam room, a sauna, hot tubs, and a relaxation space.

Tourism Ireland?has launched a new €580,000 campaign to promote Donegal and Derry in the all-important Great Britain market. The nine-week campaign will reach at least 6.8 million people and includes eye-catching digital ads in London's Waterloo station, as well as at busy roadside locations in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh - with the slogan "two unique places, one amazing holiday".

Minister of State at the Department of Transport Hildegarde Naughton TD has officially launched Cork Airport’s biggest-ever winter schedule . The schedule features over 1.1 million seats across 27 routes, served by five airlines, and it will operate from 30 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Restaurant brand Tim Hortons has announced that it will open two new restaurants and drive-throughs in Northern Ireland later this year. One of the new venues will be in Newtownards' Castlebawn Retail Park, and the other in West Belfast’s Kennedy Centre. This will bring the total of Tim Hortons venues in Belfast to four.
