Mini vacation in ceramic industry: Voluntary shutdown begins

The ceramic industry of Morbi has had to shut down for the first time as a mini-vacation just on the occasion of Janmashtami, in the last week alone around 100 large industrialists of Morbi have faced gaps in natural and LPG – propane gas consumption due to shutdown, currently GSPC Natural Gas in Morbi is supplying 10 to 10 per day. It has been revealed that there is a gap of 12 lakh cubic meters and 3 lakh cubic meters of LPG propane gas.

Amid slowdown in the domestic market, the world's second largest ceramic coaster Morbi has been hit by an increase in container and freight charges in the international trade, exports have come to a standstill due to a glut of finished goods, which has started a shutdown like a mini Janmashtami vacation in the ceramic industries, said Morbi Ceramic Association President Hareshbhai Bhopaliya. And according to Vinod Bhadja, gradual shutdowns are currently taking place as the international market stagnates and currently around 100 units have voluntarily stopped production.

On the other hand, the consumption of propane and LPG gas has decreased as proof that the shutdown has started in ceramic industries, currently the consumption of propane and LPG in Morbi has decreased by three lakh cubic meters to 37 lakh cubic meters in three days, said Kumarbhai, a propane gas seller. Also, Gujarat Gas pipeline natural gas has decreased by 10 to 12 lakh cubic meters per day, sources are saying that the natural gas consumption of Gujarat Gas last month was 40 lakh cubic meters and now it has reached 25 lakh cubic meters.

It is to be mentioned that in the last one year, around 150 units of ceramic industries in Morbi have been closed down due to various factors, now tough days have started for the ceramic industry as exports are halted due to the adverse situation in the international market and currently more than 100 units are facing difficulties in the ceramic industry. A surge has occurred and a voluntary shutdown has begun.
