Mindsets Matter

Mindsets Matter

The beliefs we hold about ourselves and the world around us are far more significant than we sometimes realize. It determines how we show up, the behaviors we exhibit, and ultimately the outcomes we get. It’s a simple formula:

Mindsets + Behaviors = Outcomes

The way we think will either enhance or inhibit our ability to reach goals and achieve an optimal state of functioning—our performance, our wellness, and our satisfaction.

While most of us understand what a Growth Mindset means, others may be less familiar with the internal shifts that are needed to get there. It’s not a simple switch to flip or lever to pull. Our personal beliefs and assumptions are often layered on top of one another--continuously compounding and reinforcing whatever conclusion we ultimately make about who we are and what we’re capable of doing. ?

There are many questions to ask of oneself:

  • Do I really understand my strengths and weaknesses? Am I aware of which skills and behaviors I need to dial up and what needs to be dialed down?
  • Do I have clarity around what’s important and what I want out of life?
  • Am I optimistic about my future? Do I see myself as being successful? Do I believe that I can achieve the things I want and determine what will happen in my life?

The more affirmative your answers to those questions, the more likely that you're embracing a Growth Mindset.

Those with a #growthmindset will invest time and effort into learning and continual growth. They tend to achieve higher levels of performance and satisfaction because they believe they can.?

What assumptions do you hold about yourself, and are those beliefs holding you back?
