Mindsets Not Higher ED's Cure All---Despite Reification
It started with a WSJ blog by McKinsey's Global Director, Dominic Barton that left me both angry and disappointed. He and I and his colleague have chatted since then. He and his team have not, as his writing earlier piece suggests, found the one key to what ails higher ed. Would that it were that simple.
So, here's my response to the "simple key" idea, and to Mr. Martin's credit and that of his team, they listened and were open minded. Bravo. https://issuu.com/livingeducationemagazine/docs/fall_2015_leem_107
Here's one truth or two: higher ed needs to be improved, on that we all agree I think; and, there is no single key to unlock the door to the room with the answer. That's because there is no one single answer. That's the answer. There are many keys and many answers.
Karen, How very true. I always enjoy reading your postings about the vagaries of higher education. Wishing you well, Chris
