The Mindset Of Those Who Overcome Problems

Many people have given up and tapped out from their destiny pursuit because the challenges and problems of life hit them hard.

Some others, though clinging on, are helplessly gasping for breath because of the weight of the problems bedeviling them.

Problems, whether self made or external, actually are blessings in disguise. Let's take a look at some characters in the bible who encountered problems.

In 1 Samuel 17, the children of Israel had a problem whose size was over 6 cubits. A really big problem. It took a young man named David to sort out that big sized wahala (as we say in Nigeria), because he saw the opportunities.

12 spies were sent out to explore the land of Canaan and they all came back with a report. Actually 10 had a report that magnified the size of the problem, while 2, Joshua and Caleb saw the opportunities.

In John 11, we see how Jesus brought freshness out of a decomposing problem.

One thing I have noticed about Jesus is that he doesn't recognise the problem. In Matthew 14, he comes out and there's no boat to cross over to the other side, and he decides to take a walk on water.

How did these people overcome the different problems which they encountered?

They had an education. The one who has been educated by the Spirit of God sees every problem as a lifter to the next level.

You cannot embrace the problem if you see it as an adversary.

1. Those who overcome problems have mastered how to embrace them.

They see problems as an opportunity to enjoy some spiritual nutrients needed for growth. They see it as a divine advantage by reason of this knowing. ( 2 Corinthians 12:9 MSG).

By embracing the problem, I mean that your attitude towards it is not one of panic and fear, but of joy.

James 1:2-4(TLB) says; Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy,

3 for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow.

4 So let it grow, and don’t try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete.

You welcome it because, from the scripture above, it comes for your promotion and elevation.

When you joyfully welcome a problem, you take away from it the potential to scare and unsettle you.

When I encounter a challenge, I joyfully take the communion and thank God for the opportunity to get nutrients needed for my spiritual growth.

I then proceed to thank and worship the Lord for the Grace and strength in the problem which is an advantage for me.

Doing this positions me to see from the standpoint of victory and with the eyes of the Spirit.

I do not shadowbox. As a believer, I know the end from the beginning, there is no need to start getting anxious.

The end of the matter is that there is always a way out according 1 Corinthians 10:13.

The interesting part is that you get to have a first hand interaction and practical session with the Spirit of wisdom.

2. Those who overcome challenges have come to understand the stuff they are made of, and the one who is with them.

The bible says that we are born of God and we have overcome the world (and whatever it will throw at us).

We are not born of a material that is easily destroyed. According to 1 Peter 1:23, we are born of an incorruptible (indestructible) seed, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever, and Hebrews 4:12 says the word of God is powerful.

If power is your DNA, then problems cannot destroy you.

Your default setting from birth is victory.

Daniel 11:32 says: ... the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do [exploits].

Your victory is determined by your personal opinion of yourself, an understanding of who God has made you and what he has put inside of you.

3. They understand the place of joy in the mix.

Maintaining an attitude of joy is very important when you're going through tough times.

Proverbs 17:22 (ESV)says; A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Nehemiah 8:10 says the joy of the Lord is your strength.

What the Spirit of joy does is that it helps you to stay focused on God's goodness by vocalising it through praise, thanksgiving and worship.

Most times, you will have to intentionally initiate a reason for you to be joyful and force yourself to thank God despite the many reasons opposing you.

4. Those who overcome problems understand the place of kindness and mercy.

Matthew 5:7 says; Blessed [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

- Pray for people in tough situations while you're waiting.

- Give to the poor and needy.

- Never be part of injustice

Proverbs 3;3-4 (TLB) Do not let mercy and kindness and truth leave you [instead let these qualities define you];

Bind them [securely] around your neck,

Write them on the tablet of your heart.

4 So find favor and high esteem

In the sight of God and man.

Also read Isaiah 58 and see how God is attracted to the person who is quick to show mercy and the benefits that follow.

Whenever you feel burdened by the situation, lift your hand to heaven and raise thanks unto the Lord.

Take your mind away from the problem and focus on the Lord and his word.

No amount of worry on your part will bring a solution or fasten the process. He knows the way and he certainly will open your eyes to see it or create the opportunity when the time comes.

Thank you for taking out time to read this article.

Be strengthened with might by the Holy Ghost in your inner man, in the name of Jesus.
