Mindset to start your weight loss journey.

Mindset to start your weight loss journey.

Is this the hardest part of getting back in shape?

Let's talk about mindset.

I've been a personal trainer for over 17 years. I'm currently going through my own body transformation. I'm about 20 percent done got 80 percent to go.

When looking back over the years. the clients that came in. It was usually a mindset problem not an ability problem or understanding problem.

what if the key to transforming your body lies... not in your workout routine or diet plan but in a simple shift in your mindset?

Think about it.

How many times have you hesitated to start something new, because you didn't want to make a mistake?

We get caught up in the idea that if we don't do it perfectly, we're going to fail.

Whether it's starting a diet, working out, or getting up early... the fear of messing up can stop us from even trying.

But here's the thing.

When you start your weight loss journey, with the right attitude, it makes it easier to continue and meet your goals.

This isn’t about positive thinking. It's about setting yourself up for lasting success. And the first step in that process is realising something crucial.

You can’t mess this up.

Let me explain why this is so powerful.

It’s simple. When you mess up, you simply get back on the plan the following day. There's no need to go mental and go on a mad binge for weeks. Just back on the plan tommorrow. Simple.

But knowing you have a plan that works, is a freeing thought… all it needs is you to stay the course.

The idea that "you can't mess this up" changes the game by it removing the fear of failure.

Here's why...

  • Every step forward is progress.

Every positive action you take, no matter how small, is a step towards your goal. Whether it's choosing water over coke or going for a short walk, it's progress. And no matter how small, is never a failure.

  • Mistakes are learning opportunities.

Instead of seeing set backs as failures you used them as a chance to learn. It might have been a missed workout or a naughty meal. It's part of the journey. Each "mistake" teaches you something. And they make a smaller impact than you think.

  • The journey is flexible not rigid.

The journey is never a straight path. There will be twists and turns the whole way. It's annoying but thats life.

And that's okay.

The mindset that you cant mess this up allows you to be flexible. Adapt what works for you, instead of following a rigid plan that feels hard to stick to.

Now you know that you can't mess this up you can move forward with no fear.

But there's another big challenge that can trip you up on your journey... Comparing yourself to others.

It's easy to look at someone else's progress and feel like you're not doing enough.

Here's why thinking like this can hurt your journey.

Don't compare yourself to others.

Let’s dive into why it’s so important to focus on your own path.

  • Everyone starts at a different place

Some people may lose weight faster. Some people might add muscle fast, but that doesn't mean you're not doing well or not making progress.

Every one starts at a different place. Run your own race.

  • Comparison leads to gloom.

If you are not getting results, it's easy to feel discouraged when you compare yourself to others. Remember that their journey is not yours. Focus on yourself and doing the small tasks that will lead to big results.

  • Social media is a highlight reel.

a lot of your insecurity will come from social media. Looking at these perfect people living their amazing lives. what you see on social media is a lie.

You only see the highlight reel. It's like comparing someones chapter one to someones chapter 10 theres no point. And most of them are editing photos, taking special supplements and are generally full of shit.

Even your friends.

it’s not about what you achieve in the short term, it’s about creating habits that will last a lifetime. Let's talk about why setting long term habits are crucial to your success.

here's how you can start creating habits that stick…

  • Consistency over Intensity

It's not about going from zero to a hundred in a flash. People don't do well when they do this. It's about being consistent. Easy to say, very hard to do.

Small actions, repeated over a long time equals great results.

  • Make it part of your routine.

To make a habit stick try and make it part of the routine you already do.

For example if you forget to take you multivitamin, put it next to your toothbrush. I bet you never forget to brush your teeth. So this acts as a trigger making it easy to complete the task.

for everything else that is new, you can use your calendar to help you. Enter these tasks as "events' or "meetings" so that you do them.

They become part of the schedule, because you add them to your calendar.

If you make it easy to do, you have a greater chance of sticking it it long term.

  • Focus on sustainable changes.

Choose habits that are realistic. Training for a marathon when you haven't ran for 40 years is not a good idea.

If a habits seems too hard, its okay to scale back and do a simpler version.

this stuff has to fit in with your lifestyle. You shouldn't be letting it completely run your life, it should fit nicely into you life... if not, you're making it harder than it needs to be.

Now you have the mindset sorted. you have the tools and the mindset to start your weight loss journey, knowing that you’re in control of your own success. Remember, every step you take, no matter how small, is a step towards the healthier, happier you.
