The Mindset To Solve Problems

The Mindset To Solve Problems

We overcome various mental barriers as we grow through life (work, family, friends).

In the modern work environment, with such easy access to information, I often notice a lack of problem solving attitude and ownership. This is in no way a complain, since I myself have been here and sometimes have noticed it and defeated it; some other less fortunate times I have defended myself. After quite a few years of trying to consciously work on it, I did something naturally today and looped back into my thinking process. I also heard an interesting podcast '2000 book summaries' which resounded the 'growth mindset' idea (author '5 elements of effective thinking'). It is a different way to think and it changes your life. Everything one does, now has a new lens of thinking.

Here's how this changes

Every problem = opportunity to learn

Every 'Don't know' = I want to find out

The key to enjoying this is just 'one', enjoying learning from it. Have you noticed solving a problem at school and knowing an amazing fact gives us joy .. it is the joy of learning. There is no end to it. Infinite joy if you please

Sometimes one might not succeed at solving it. Mistakes are inevitable. But we can get it wrong and each time we learnt something that is not the solution. Of course, it's important we prioritise the right challenge first. The most efficient way of solving the wrong challenge is not time well spent.

Have a purposeful day. Productivity is implicit. :)
