We possess a homegrown mindset because it matters. Whether it's about seeing others being just as important as themselves. When they see that others' needs and wants matter just as much as their own, they are able to see and care about others as people. This is the outward mindset.
At some point, some see themselves as being more important than others. Some see their needs and wants as being of greater concern than others, we tend to see others as objects, rather than as people. This is the inward mindset.
People, like branches of a tree, go into different directions. Some of them forget that their roots are the same.
Psychologists define mindsets as beliefs, attitudes, and perceptions about ourselves, other people, and the atmospheres that we're in. Though, there are two (2) mindsets that are common but quite overlooked and may help people succeed even for little victories.
Growth.?According to a?study?made by Ryan Gottfredson, as people age, they seem to get more outward-minded and less inward-minded. In other words, as we age, the value we place on ourselves relative to others goes down. However, as people age, different or diverse challenges could come, some even suddenly.
There is nothing worst than self-satisfaction that tend to be dangerous. Ease that will slowly strangle opportunities and outcomes. If your world doesn't seem to be expanding, then it's shrinking. The opposite of that is growth.
One way to overcome diverse challenges is to cultivate a growth mindset. Devised by Carol Dweck, a researcher at Stanford University, it's all about an individual's belief that skills and abilities can develop and expand, especially through hard work, moving through diverse challenges, taking risks, learning from failure, and adjusting strategies to accomplish goals.
A common misconception about a growth mindset is that being open-minded and flexible qualifies as being growth-minded. These are important qualities to have, but they themselves do not make someone growth-minded.
Also, there are certain times when you won't be able to apply a growth mindset at all. This could be during very hard circumstances or when dealing with a feeling of insecurity, we may get defensive and adopt a fixed mindset to deal with the conflict.
Purpose?and the commitment to create a purpose, are becoming critical as we are increasingly driven by the growth mindset based on the seminal work done by Carol S. Dweck in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success.
Having a purpose-driven mindset will let you know that during these rapidly evolving times, your impact can be greater than at any time in history.
