FFC Co-Founder Rebecca Minkoff shares some advice as we head into 2024
I used to think Go Go Go was the way to do it. That somehow always being on and working 16 hour days was going to get me to some higher level success. Something that renowned fashion designer, Norma Kamali helped me with is redefining what “success” looks like. Rather than just focusing on success, you have to focus on living a satisfied life. Success without satisfaction is never fulfilling. I always keep that in mind when it comes to prioritizing my day - I know if take time out of my day to do things that give me energy- going on a walk without any devices or distractions, going on a run, spending time with friends outside of work – all those things influence my creativity and elevate my outlook.??
As a business owner I’ve always treated motivation with my team like this: Empower employees to be the boss.? I view each person who works with me as an entrepreneur. We want to encourage people [to think of themselves as] owners of their area. It’s easier to recognize standout talent when you allow them to showcase how they ideate, or what they’d do.
On staying motivated: I’ve found that when I surround myself with like-minded people (read the 10th House community) and am willing to be vulnerable I’m able to stay grounded in my purpose and rekindle that fire. ?
