Mindset Matters
Charlie Anderson
Peak Performance Coach at Lightning Thoughts Ltd I help teams and individuals get from where they are to where they want to be. Mapping a course of action for success as well as assessing and implementing changes.
Mindset is everything, in an age where there is more depression and anxiety we need to look at ways to combat these things without medication. This doesn't mean stop taking medication straight away, it means take steps to help yourself.
I believe in taking action. Using the correct processes to change the mindset. For instance, accept that you don't feel right or feel unhappy. Don't label yourself as depressed but say "I feel slightly down". Lower the impact of the words you use. The person who hears you the most is YOU. I don't believe in the 'If I can't see it, it's not there' idea or bury your head in the sand approach. Accept the issues as they are, not how bad they could be.
Exercise such as walking which is low impact can help change your mindset. In the stresses of work going out and walking during breaks you can release a lot of anger and stress. During sunny days it's a good excuse to get your Vitamin D as well. Sometimes you need to get away from the office. Turn your phone of for an hour and relax.
These days we rely heavily on our phones and waste time on them constantly, playing games and looking through Facebook or looking at the news. The news these days is mostly bad, stabbings here and shootings there. It doesn't get easier for me as a West Ham fan lol. I think Jim Rohn said it best, "Stand guard at the door of your mind" Don't fill your mind with negativity. Be careful who you surround yourself with and confide in, I recently cut off a toxic friendship of 20 years because it was holding me back from my true potential.
Everything comes down to making a decision, choose to be the best you, you can be. Choose to work with people who lead and inspire you to achieve more. If you're the smartest person in the room, find a new room. If you're not growing, you're dying.
