Mindset: Let Come
LEADERS- Imagine the worst thing you ever did in your adult life displayed for the world in the court of public opinion. Imagine it being displayed frequently for close to 9 years. Imagine being stuck in a self-imposed prison for 9 years that you could neither escape nor let go. Imagine others judging you constantly and waiting, hoping for your demise.
Now…imagine how you overcame the worst thing you ever did in your adult life be a story of redemption to the world. Imagine your victorious moment lionized when it all turned around for you. Imagine changing the world with your story because it resonated with several people as a source of inspiration. Imagine a wall of people cheering for you at the completion of the hardest thing you’ve ever accomplished.
There’s a little bit of Tiger in all of us.
If I had to create a 6-Word Memoir to Tiger’s story and what he accomplished with his 5th Masters win, then it would be His pain let come his victory.
For the last 5 weeks, our mindset journey has been building to this point: letting come. Letting come can be defined as the emergence of your higher Self by surrendering (letting go) the world we create with our judgement, cynicism, and fear through a profound deepening of our heart. This is the shift of a life changing moment as we connect with our inner source. This is the same shift I explained last week via being present in the moment and faith in the process that leads to letting come the emergence of the higher Self. The movement towards your higher Self is always a movement towards the revelation of your purpose in life- what you are meant to do that brings immense fulfillment. In other words, your best life is on the other side of your pain IF you are aligned with your purpose.
Folks, we’ve been through the fire the last 5 weeks. We had to delve deep into the painful areas of our lives and let it go. Whether its name be shame, guilt, failure, or embarrassment, it’s still pain. The pain makes you stronger and present for the moment coming that will shift your life to a brighter future. However, pain for the sake of pain has no lasting effect until it is associated and works in tandem with the pursuit of your highest ideas. Working out is a great example of a physical transformation that manifests itself through the lasting effects of pain. One literally can see the change; however, the physical change will not happen until the proper mindset shifts the inner source to let come a healthy, abundant, prosperous lifestyle. If you are stuck in the loop of working out, quitting, starting again, then be honest with yourself and the pain you are causing yourself. Do I really believe a better life is awaiting me on the other side of this pain? If the answer is no, then it makes complete sense why one would not see desired outcomes. If the answer is yes, then a 9-year dark period becomes a testimony. Your higher Self prevails after you endure the pain. It must! Focusing on the pain, discomfort, and uncertainty only inhibits letting come the very thing you desire. So, what do we focus on, jL?
Letting come the best version of your life is like being in Willy Wonka’s Imagination Room. We took our daughter to see the play Willy Wonka. It was also during a time that my daughter and I challenged one another to not use electronic devices for 2 days- no cell phones, no computer, no television. We let go! Surrendering our devices opened a world of meaningful dialogue, going to the gym together, hanging with and beating up her little cousin, reading more, and her crushing me in Monopoly! (she is a beast at that game). We had to use our imagination to occupy space that was once occupied by devices. The life we lived in those 2 days was probably the best version of ourselves because of our creativity.
Here are 3 things you can do to let come the best version of your life:
- Listen deeply. You must learn to listen not only with your ears, but with your heart, body, mind and spirit. This is why we had to address presence prior to letting come. Meditation can assists to listen deeply to your inner symphony. And when you are out and about in the world you created, hear what you are listening to in the different spaces you encounter- certain people, certain environments, certain experiences. If you pay attention, there will be a powerful underlining utterance that will emerge when you are sensitive with a deep profound heart. When I asked the question, “What should we focus on, jL?”, the answer is listening to your truth with all your heart, body, mind and spirit. We can lie to ourselves for a time; however, when a shift needs to take place in your life because of overwhelming inside forces, it requires listening to yourself at the deepest level to let come the very thing you most desire.
2. Think creatively. Sometimes, your life can look like an incomplete puzzle you are trying to solve. Once you think you have solved it, another piece appears or your perspective changes all together. The picture of the puzzle you were trying to complete is not what is emerging. The following image is a representation of seeing what you want to see and not allowing something else to emerge. Using your creativity, you might see the young woman’s ear is the old woman’s eye. The old woman’s lip is the young woman’s necklace. Whatever image emerged first for you means something. Did you feel the aha moment when you let go of the old image and let come the new image? The same is true in your life when you shift from let go to let come. You feel it. Sometimes we think we need the old woman to appear and then all we see is the young woman. Allow what is unfolding in your life to emerge! Tiger Woods wanted to see another major victory. We saw defeat after defeat, but he saw a version of himself that we couldn’t fathom. Your creativity and your imagination are limitless and so are the best versions of what you let come.
3. Embrace change. When I attended The United States Command and General Staff College while I was in the army, we learned about VUCA in respect to change. The space we often find ourselves in is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. Change is inevitable as your higher Self emerges. Once you begin to sense the awareness of your higher Self emerging, you might occupy a VUCA space, but you will be direct, understandable, reliable and trustworthy. You are transforming so be agile and adaptive. Embrace what is being revealed to you whether it be new feelings, new thoughts, or your next action step. Let it come because it must.
Tiger’s 5th Masters win is being labeled as one of the greatest comebacks in sports history. Imagine the story line without his fall from grace. Imagine the story line without numerous failures. This win is sweeter for him and his family because of what he overcame on and off the green. He was literally fighting for his life’s purpose. Something emerged that was at stake for him and those closest to him. We were able to witness his shift and he let come a roaring victory.
Others may be relying on you to let come your higher Self. Dare to embrace a dream that is bigger than yourself and see what emerges in your purpose. I’m rooting for all of you to have your shift and let come your best life. Your comeback story matters, too. It’s not over. No matter what happened in your past, you deserve to let come your best life. It’s time for you to roar. Let it come.

5 年My mindset series that I have been publishing on LinkedIn has been occurring for the last 5 weeks as part of a 6-part series. It's been quite a journey in stretching myself. I hope my readers can see my growth. The 9-year period refers to Tiger's story. Thanks for liking the article.
