The mindset of dependency is not the reason for Africa’s continued underdevelopment.....!

The Great and brilliant speech Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo when addressing a press conference with France President Emmanuel Macron during the latter’s one-day working visit to Ghana is not the first ever impressive speech from our African leaders and it wouldn't be the last. African leaders know how to give very impressive speech, but implementation of those policies become a big threat to them as Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki said a few days ago that We know what is good for Nigeria, but sometimes we are afraid that if we do it, what are the consequences, but if we continue to do this, we will continue to talk about the potentials of this country, not the reality that Nigeria can achieve,”

This statement of Senator Bukola Saraki is the true picture of African leaders, even Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo who called for Africa to end its dependency on the West, can he face the consequences if that happens, which I strongly doubt it that he can when it's through the West's developmental support and financial aid that our African leaders enriched themselves and get more influence. Truly, we need to get away from this mindset of dependency, but not completely, the west needs Africa likewise Africa need the west.

Even though Africa has an abundance of natural resources, but the big question is do Africa has the necessary mechanize to drive its resources to it own benefit as President Nana Akufo-Addo said when you look at the Africa's resources, we should be giving monies to other places...Truly, he is right, but Africa doesn't have the mechanize to make that happen. The mindset of dependency is not the main challenges facing Africa rather two things are the main challenges facing Africa.

(1) Self—Created Inferiority Complex. In Africa, most of us feel inferior about ourselves, the west are confident of themselves, but Africans seem not to possess self-confidence, an African person will always show the tendencies to merely gain acceptance or fit into the class of the west, this happens often among Africans that are very ambitious,we always believe that we can't really achieve success being an African or live in Africa or have your businesses in Africa, lack of self-worth is one of the factors that drives so many Africans making the perilous journey to Europe.

Even Elon Musk change his South African citizenship to Canadian citizenship through his Canadian-born mother to achieve his dreams and also Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, wants to invest $20 billion to $50 billion in the U.S. and Europe, which 60 percent of his future investments will be outside Africa, saying so we can have a balance, do African Entrepreneur need to balance his investment between the west and Africa, if not for the purpose to gain acceptance into the class of the west.Africa needs the investments of Dangote more than the west, then taking 60 percent of his investments outside of Africa when Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo calls on Africa to end its dependency on the West that show that Africans are trapped in a web of an inferiority complex.

(2) The lack of accountability of African leaders, this is what fuels corruption, bad governance, state failure and poor economic management. The lack of accountability of African leaders has been manifest in the startling economic imbalances that still blight many African countries. Despite runaway economic growth over the past decade, poverty remains structural in many countries and inequality is huge.

Lack of accountability has been one of the single biggest reasons for Africa’s continued underdevelopment, not the mindset of dependency has been said by Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo.
