Minding Our Black-owned Businesses [Wednesday Weekly Writeup #4]

FYI

THANK YOU to everyone who got the YouTube channel to over 65,000 views! The TikTok page is also blowing up, probably due to the Super Bowl commentary recently.?

Keep telling me what matters most to you, and I’ll continue making series on those matters.

(P.S. - if you’re not on TikTok, similar content is on the LinkedIn page.)

New from the Blog

If you’re part of the 240 federal employees whose jobs are in limbo due to DEI freezes, or if you’re looking for a DEI-friendly workplace, consider a Black-owned business that’s hiring.

The newsroom has an article listing the top three sectors where Black-owned businesses are thriving and seeking new employees. This list will be continually updated throughout the next 2-3 months.

ICYMI

I announced two opportunities:

  1. Emergency Micro-Grants for Women in Need - we’ve launched a temporary emergency micro-grant program to provide $25 to $100 to women facing urgent hardships. Learn more and apply here.
  2. Black Women Organizers - Do you have a story about community organizing? Are you running mutual aid programs in your neighborhood? If so, we want to share your story! Fill out this form to be a featured writer for our newsroom. All published writers will be compensated for their submissions.

Getting Paid

The freelance/remote job of the week comes from Wyndham Garden New Orleans Airport, which is hiring a Virtual Assistant. This is a 100% remote role and candidates who want to work from anywhere should apply here.

Weekly Affirmation

I will never happen again, so I’ll live like it’s my last day.
