Mindfulness, what is it & does it work
Mindfulness, what is it & does it work
Mindfulness is a term you hear a lot at the moment, so I thought I would share what it means to me, and how it has truly changed my life and helps me focus everyday.
The practise of mindfulness has its roots in Buddhism, but it's a technique you can learn which involves making a special effort to be aware of what is happening in the present moment (in your mind, body and surroundings)
My personal take on it and how it works for me is as follows: In my honest opinion every success starts with an initial thought, if you put this into context, it is imperative that we are aware of our thoughts at all times, as I am sure you all agree our minds have the tendency to "wander" off in different directions all the time, some of which can be terribly unhelpful!
There is no special technique, or indeed posture in the way I practise mindfulness, just a regular nudge to myself to be aware of my thoughts, to carry on focusing on the productive ones, whilst reminding oneself that the negative thoughts are hindering my progress toward achieving my daily goals.
I will reiterate, this is what mindfulness is to me, the "experts" and people who practise this daily I am sure all have their own techniques and beliefs. Mine is simple. I know that what I think ends up manifesting itself in my life one way or another, so it is a no brainer to remind oneself, and be aware of one's thoughts regularly throughout the day, in order to achieve positive manifestations instead of the bad.
The changes in my life (for the better) since making mindfulness a part of my life cannot be ignored, indeed, nor can the change in my own outlook.
I would love to hear about everyone else's experiences with mindfulness, and if I can be of assistance to anyone please do get in touch.
