Mindfulness

Sometimes we reach a state where one’s thoughts are moving quickly and continuously without a control or organization may be because of a positive or negative emotional trigger. Learning to manage triggers can help you maintain balance.
The “STOP” technique is a simple mindfulness practice that can help individuals pause and become more present at the moment. The objective is simply “tune in” to what is happening right now, without expectation of any particular result.
S -Stop and take a stock
Putdown everything you are doing, turn away from your distractions and create a space for a natural resilience and wisdom. Slowly question your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations to feel neutral.
T- Take a breath
Direct your full attention to breathing, to each inhale and exhale, normal and natural and follow for a minute or two to connect with your breath.
O- Observe
Observe your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Reflect on what is in your mind now and gently remind thoughts are not facts and watch how emotions are expressed in your body. Pause and let your attention now move to the world around you, sense how things are right now, in this moment. Notice any sensations with curiosity and wonder.
P- Proceed
Proceed with something that can support you in the moment. Talk to a friend, have a cup of tea, and return to your day with a renewed sense of calm.
What you practice grow stronger.
