Personal Insights

As an Asian American mom of two, my journey has been filled with challenges and growth. At one point, I experienced self-led sepsis from burnout - a powerful wake-up call that made me question my worth and face moments of deep denial. But through this experience, I've learned a vital truth: no one is perfect, and that's perfectly fine. It's important to embrace our imperfections and recognize that we have an unparalleled understanding of ourselves. Instead of striving for perfection, focus on giving your best effort each day. Let go of the pressure to meet others' expectations or judgments, and instead, aim to improve just 1% each day. Ask yourself, "How can I be better? How can I do better? How can I serve better?" This mindset empowers us to take control of our choices, reactions, and responses, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

The Power of 1% Better Every Day

Committing to improving by just 1% daily might seem small, but it accumulates into significant growth over time. By the end of 12 months, this approach can result in a substantial transformation. Mathematically, if you improve by 1% each day, by the end of the year, you will be approximately 37 times better than when you started. This concept, known as the power of compounding, highlights that consistent, small improvements lead to exponential growth. Whether in your personal life, career, or any other aspect, this incremental progress can bring about remarkable changes, fostering a stronger, more resilient, and more capable version of yourself.

?

Seeking Help

Seeking help and showing vulnerability are powerful demonstrations of strength and courage. This is a journey I'm still on myself, learning that it's okay to ask for support. Opening up about our struggles can be challenging, but it's a necessary step toward healing and growth. When we share our vulnerabilities, we give others the courage to do the same, creating a ripple effect of empathy and understanding. Remember, seeking help is not a sign of weakness; it's a bold acknowledgment of our humanity. By reaching out, we connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges, providing comfort and solidarity in knowing we are not alone.

?

Support and Motivation

Your mental health is the foundation of your overall well-being - without it, everything else becomes much harder to manage. It's important to recognize that tough times are temporary; there is always hope and light at the end of the tunnel. To support your mental health, surround yourself with positive, like-minded people who lift you up and provide unconditional support. These individuals can be a source of strength and encouragement when needed. Additionally, be mindful of your thoughts, which can shape your reality. You can create a more fulfilling and resilient life by cultivating a positive mindset. Remember, taking care of your mental health is not just a priority; it's essential to living a happy and meaningful life.

Scientific Data

Mental health profoundly affects our physical and physiological well-being. Research shows that chronic stress can weaken the immune system, making us more susceptible to illnesses, including cancer. According to the American Psychological Association, stress can cause inflammation, which is linked to various chronic diseases. Maintaining good mental health can improve cardiovascular health, reduce the risk of stroke, and enhance overall longevity. Mindfulness practices like meditation and deep breathing can reduce stress hormones and boost mental fitness.
