Mindfulness for Anxiety at the workplace

How is everyone doing?

It's been a while since we connected and I would love to hear what's going on with you?

What's the latest challenge and what's your latest win? What is not going so well and what needs more support.

This newsletter started in the pandemic so we could be more connected and support each other in the network more. If you have a pressing issue and I can be of any assistance, guidance or even an accountability partner, hit me up and we will do a virtual coffee!

Today I wanted to talk about Mindfulness and Anxiety. In these stressful times everyone has their battles to fight, their share of pain and challenges. But anxiety can be managed, can be preventative and at the very least can be strategically fought!

Anxiety is having thoughts and emotions either about the past - What could I have done better? Why did I do that? How did I make a fool about myself?

Or about the future - What if this happens? What if this doesn't happen?

Memory about the past and imagination about the future.

The easiest combat strategy is coming in the present moment. Either by fully feeling the painful feelings, or by completely indulging in an activity like cleaning the house, going for a walk or even doing something creative - maybe a side hustle?

Secondly be very aware of your thoughts and emotions, journal them or speak to a friend. Reach out to me and we can exchange notes. Very curiously observe the repetitive thoughts so next time you can catch them in the moment and stop yourself from going down the rabbit hole.

Thirdly dont resist, dont feed into it, simply redirect to the present moment or to a pleasant thought or emotion. Use memory and imagination to your benefit, rather than being used by it.

I seriously hope this gave you a bit of an insight or a reminder to take back control of your mind.
