Bit of a plug for artist and good friend Steve Chapman , who recently successfully crowdfunded support for a studio space in The Koppel Project , in Kingston. Here is his short moving-in video.

On Thursday, I met up with my oldest friend (the one I have known the longest, rather than in terms of advanced years…) who I’ve known since I was seven. In conversation, he remarked that the song Ventura Highway defined the 70’s for him. This piqued my interest, as although I’d heard of the band ‘America’, and was familiar with A Horse With No Name, I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard the song. It is rather wonderful though and interesting to read that this was where Prince borrowed the line ‘purple rain’. Thanks for sharing Brian Cunningham (ps. Ventura Highway are still actively touring, 50 years on…).

Strengthening Relationships Through Mindfulness. In today’s fast-paced world, maintaining a healthy relationship requires more than just love; it requires mindfulness and intentionality. HT Ted Meissner .

Nice post from Jade Binsted on Taylor Swift, and (beyond music) her wider, positive impact on the world. Full disclosure, I am not a Taylor Swift fan. I have listened to her music but haven't managed to make a connection. Of course, as a 58-year-old man, I'm probably not in her primary target market???, but I know a lot of people (and several people I know and respect) like her. She has undoubtedly used her popularity to do a lot of good and I am hoping she will further this, by endorsing a certain candidate and political party in the upcoming US Election, as she has done in the past... ?

How creatively nutritious is your internet feed? Pivoting away from “algosorted” recommendations online, the Tiny Awards is the anti-Webbys, celebrating the internet’s independent creators.

Interesting idea. They say - 'Travel the world with your community. You’ve worked hard to build your community online. Now, imagine travelling the world with them. TrovaTrip makes that possible. A group travel company built to help creators take their community places and have 25,000+ travellers booked on 1,500 trips and counting.'?

Citizens and spinning wheels. For Indians to be truly free, Gandhi argued they must take up traditional crafts. Was it a quixotic hope or inspired solution?

Understanding the Choice, Control and Dignity in Death. ‘Every Frame a Painting’ (five-minute) video essay was shown at the recent (and final) XOXO Festival. The video looks at the sustained two-shot in film-making.?“A type of shot that was used a lot in the olden days but still has its uses today — and gives actors room to actually act.” Includes clips of great old and new films.?

Funny. Imagine waiting 15 years for Oasis to reform only to lose out on tickets to Chloe, 21 from Stockport who just wants to hear Wonderwall live. (a 2-minute read)

Finishing with this poem by Rusty Morrison. To measure internal activity while it turns all I know to rubble.
