[Arthur is horrified at the high cost of helium for his advertising balloon]
Arthur Daley:
'Seventy quid? It's immoral charging for gas. God put gas on this earth for all of us'
Gas Deliverer:
'Yeah, but God didn't put it in canisters and drive it round in a Transit, did he?'
The long-running comedy-drama Minder (ITV, 1979-94, revived appallingly by C5 with a totally different cast led by Shane-bloody-Richie in 2009) concerned the antics of dodgy London businessman Arthur Daley (George Cole) and his 'muscle' ('minder' in the UK), first Terry McCann (Dennis Waterman) and later Ray Daley (Gary Webster), Arthur's semi-educated nephew.
As was his wont, Dennis Waterman bellowed the theme to the show whilst he was in it.
Waterman and Cole teamed up for the 1983 novelty hit 'What Are We Going To Get 'Er Indoors For Christmas?'.
'Er Indoors' was Daley's never-seen wife.
Enjoy. If that's the right word...
The Waterman era series shows were pretty good; Webster's far less so.
The show was softened and Webster had none of Dennis's edge - the violence was toned down and the surprising amount of nudity (strip clubs etc) in the early series was completely off the menu.
Throughout the ten 79-94 seasons, the show was distinguished by it's cleverly skewed use of movies for episode titles.
