Select Your System

Select Your System

In today's business world, everyone is selling time to show the value of the result. We often hear, - get rich quick, make your first million in a year, 100 days 100K etc. I know its possible to do so. But my questions are

Is it the same for everyone?

Is it a sustainable practice?

Is it creating a cumulative value for life and business?

Probably it's just creating hype and making people more confused to see the impact of the result.

On the contrary, looking at the whole system of work and doing things in a simple-repeated approach could make our lives easier. Instead of always being busy and drained, understanding the science of productivity can help us work smarter, not harder. You can save time, use your brain better, and keep up your energy.

1. Press Select on Your Emotions

Our emotions can make or break our day. When we wake up feeling great, and suddenly, everything seems possible. But on those down days, even the smallest tasks feel like climbing a mountain. The truth is, our emotions are powerful drivers of our productivity. By tuning in and pressing the “select” button of the emotions that serve us best, we can shape our day in ways that align with our goals. I love listening to uplifting songs on spotify - let me know yours.

2. Dance with new habits:

Dancing is learning one step at a time and slowly performing with all the steps learned in a rhythm. Similarly, our brains are wired to work efficiently. To work efficiently, we just need to know which habit is required because not all habits can help us be productive. Research shows that habits are formed by our brains following the same paths, but the good news is we can change these paths and improve them for a better one. By understanding this, we can intentionally create new, more productive habits when we need to.

As David Rock, who wrote Your Brain at Work, says, “Your brain has only so many resources, and the more you use it to remember things, the less you can use it for thinking.”

?3. Build a system:

Thirdly, we can be more strategic by putting out tasks into a reflection system. Since our brains are always changing, our productivity systems should change too. Reflecting regularly lets you see what's working and what's not, so you can adjust your approach if needed. This flexibility is important for staying productive in the long run.

Now, let's say you often procrastinate in communicating with other team members. It's probably because your brain links certain communication with negative feelings, like stress, anxiety, or boredom. To change this, first, you need to disconnect the current feeling and press select a new feeling. Then build a habit of regular communication, set the time, and communicate, Initially, it might feel like robotic, but once the habit is developed, it will flow. And thus you can create a system that will make you feel positive and automate your initiative to do the task. Not only that but as a result, your brain releases dopamine, a chemical linked to pleasure and reward.

?Now, select a scenario that you would like to change, and build your system.

And do not forget to let me know in the comment how you went.

Onwards,

Ayesha

I couldn't agree more! Sustainable success isn't about managing emotions, building intentional habits, and constantly refining our systems for sure. I particularly took note of your second point of being disciplined. Great insights—thanks for your post Ayesha ??
