When confronted with a crucial decision making often our situation is like a deer caught in the headlights and unable to choose a direction.
Should I get switch job or get job into new sector?
Should I Leave current job or start your business?
Should I get into new relationship?
It’s not always easy to make choices. The fear of making choices causes anxiety that increases gradually if we fail to make choices that we feel right, anxiety reaches to its peak as a result the person get paralyzed and dis-empowered in life.
However the good news is human empowerment is possible and it’s a matter of mind Shifting. Here are some tips to make effective decisions
Step1: Take is easy
Paralysis in decision making set in when we assume that ‘I am stupid’ and the outside world is smarter than I as a result we feel down on self to make choices and we fell that the word will be able to decide on my best choice. As per the studies, when it comes to crucial decision making, there is no right or wrong choices.
No one option is better than another. So we shall not waste our time in scratching head and tearing out hair trying to figure out which alternative is better.
2012 study: Journal of personality and social psychology the authors found that anxiety clouds your judgments and make you more likely to depend on others advises rather than your self-guidance and understanding.
Step 2: Consider alternative to make choices
Decision making involves instinctual, emotional, intuitive and cognitive faculties yet you should still start at the beginning with the facts.
Studying alternatives, making pros and cons list, working out hypothesis is important and inevitable. If you are still struggling to make a choice from present alternatives move on to the next.
Step 3: Go and keep digging deeper
Most of the people think that by using intellectual faculty i.e. by means of logic is the only way to take effective decisions. However the truth of the matter is the best decisions are made with combination of intellect and instinct.
Any big decision can’t be made just on the basis of logic and analytics. It has to be backed by emotional instinct along with right rational approach. You must check why it matters to you as who you are.
