Mind Mastery

Mind Mastery

I'm feeling a bit lost.

For the bulk of this year, I belonged to two paid masterminds. They overlapped a bit in the middle but now both are done. Napaloeon Hill talks about Masterminds in Think and Grow Rich a lot and I agree - they are an incredible tool for self-development.

The idea is that you have a handful of people with similar goals or at a similar point in your journey. A small group of people who know exactly what you're going through, who can relate to you, and vice versa.

You share your wins, roadblocks, and priorities so that you can benefit from the collective wisdom of the group. It's a lot harder to go through anything when you're on your own.

These groups are a huge part of the reason I've been able to take most of the bold actions I've taken this year. They've given me the strength and courage to follow my heart and trust my gut. This year I have learned the true value of having a mastermind and I never want to go back!

The problem is, I invested a lot of money to be involved in these groups and I'm not ready to make another investment of that size (but also because I don't need the curriculum that came with those particular programs).

In fact, I just signed up for Mindvalley, which will give me workshops, lessons, and exercises for the next year. The only thing that doesn't come with that membership is the mastermind that I've been missing. This is only the first week of not having a weekly mastermind call but I know it won't be long before I'm feeling the effects of not having one.

I'm exploring other options and have even considered creating my own. I've messed around with two ideas in particular:

  • Starting a paid mastermind - but this requires me to come up with and deliver a curriculum to customers. I already have 2 businesses and don't need to start another.
  • Starting a free mastermind - but there is a psychological impact of getting something for free versus making a financial investment in a program. If we are not financially invested, we are not mentally or emotionally invested.

For these reasons, I find myself leaning back toward joining a paid experience. I have a few that I'm looking at but not clear on which path is the one for me.

Fortunately, I don't have to make a decision right now and I can continue to ponder the choices that lay before me. However, I should come to a decision quickly. I know that I'm missing out on valuable connections and insights by forging forward on my own.

Join me on this journey...

I have beloved to Vistage for over 20 years and love it. But that is more about the nuts and bolts of running the business and not that much about personal growth. You could ask yourself, "What do I really want". but at this point you should be asking... "what do I really need" to scale. IMHO.
