MIND THE GAP

MIND THE GAP

Spring is an excellent time for new beginnings, and it has always been especially true for the recruitment market – the winter blues are over, bonuses are paid out, new budgets are confirmed, and the souls are hopeful of new promises and opportunities.

Spring has always been one of the most productive times for the recruitment market. Lately, however, we have noticed a shift in the market – thanks to the uncertainties of the post-pandemic society, geopolitical and economic instability and challenges related to the quality of life, rises in consumer costs, etc.

As a result, people are faced with worries of uncertainty. Unemployed job seekers are having a hard time finding new placements. And the majority of employed job seekers are considering a change for one particular reason – to get a better-paid job to sustain their quality of life. ?

However, it is worth mentioning that companies are struggling, too. With the instability at play, price rises and geopolitical shifts, most businesses face their own challenges to overcome. As a result, we notice less recruitment activity than usual, slower hiring and onboarding processes, and frozen salary mark-ups.

We realise that often, employees and employers just cannot agree.

?

Over 90% of employees are asking for flexible working hours and/or hybrid work opportunities

While

Over 60% of employers are trying to re-establish office-based work environments due to various reasons, the major one being decreased productivity from home-based teams.

?

Over 90% of job seekers are considering a change of job to get better pay

While

Over 80% of employers are struggling to accommodate salary increases or extend their current teams altogether.

?

Over 80% of employees are hoping to learn new skills at a new job and progress in their careers

While

Over 60% of employers are currently struggling to allocate any additional funds to learning and development and are trying to hire ‘ready and experienced’ employees so they don’t require extra training from the start.

?

The discrepancy is vast, so we all need to mind the gap and try to meet in the middle in order to make more recruitment happen ??

I think when people start remote work, going back is so tough! So I don't we'll see much of a change in that trend with the 90% looking for flexible hours & hybrid work. Do you think the employees will be more lenient to allowing? Or do you think they'll stick to their guns & we'll see more people going back to the office full-time?
