According to OpenAI, the training process of Chat GPT-3 required 3.2 million USD in computing resources alone. This cost was incurred from running the model on 285,000 processor cores and 10,000 graphics cards, equivalent to about 800 petaflops of processing power. This is a massive amount of processing power and is approximately equivalent to the computing power of the 20 most powerful supercomputers in the world combined.

Despite the significant cost of training Chat GPT-3, the model has already been shown to be a game-changer in the field of natural language processing. It has already been integrated into various applications, including chatbots, virtual assistants, and content generators.

The anticipated advancements of Chat GPT-4, set to be released in 2023, are expected to take natural language processing to an entirely new level. According to OpenAI, Chat GPT-4 will have a neural network with over 200 billion parameters, surpassing the processing power of Chat GPT-3. It will be capable of more advanced tasks such as better language understanding, more natural conversation, and even more complex tasks such as writing code or generating art.

However, with these anticipated advancements, it is also expected that the processing power required to train Chat GPT-4 will be significantly higher than Chat GPT-3. The exact figures and data are yet to be released by OpenAI, but it is safe to assume that it will require even more computing resources, and consequently, even more cost.

Despite the high costs, the advancements in natural language processing are invaluable, and the benefits they bring to various industries, including healthcare, education, and customer service, are immeasurable.
