Milwaukee Issues
There is no excuse for the riot that occurred in Milwaukee yesterday. From what I've seen on the news, the police did what they had to do. Sad, but it looks like its true. Our foundation deals with dozens of young adults from the north side of Milwaukee. We have seen many sad situations. On one occasion, we invited 3 state representatives to MATC to meet with around 10 students. When one of the reps asked the students to talk about their background, 3 started to tear up. They... come from horrible situations. Some of the students say they enjoy coming to school because they feel safe at school. We have seen students homeless living in vacant houses, hungry with no means of buying food, being beat up and robbed in their neighborhood and a mother being evicted from her home having to live in a one room boarding house with 2 children until the county removed the children from her. Many of these kids have grown up with no role models and absolutely no vision of what success is nor any knowledge of how to obtain it. What can we expect as a society? Our society sets back and waits for the government to play Robin Hood and solve all the problems. It will never happen. Unless the people in the community removes their blinders and starts understanding what's occurring in their own community, nothing will happen. In fact, things will continue to get worse. This is America and its not suppose to be like this. Every citizen has the potential of making a difference. www.ccefscholarships.org
