The Millionaire In You -- how your self image influences your net worth

How rich you are is not based on how much money you have in your bank account. It is not based on how much assets you have. Instead, the reverse is true; how much money you will have is based on how rich you are. Rich is a way to see yourself. You can have millions if you learn to bring out the millionaire in you.

Most people start their lives chasing money. In the end, they sacrifice the very thing they want to enjoy with money. This is not the life is supposed to be. But if you don’t see differently and think differently, this is the path you will walk.

Default life choices are always horrible. The only exception is if you have wealthy parents who made some conscious and deliberate choices for you. Most kids hate those proactive choices until they grow up. The gap between those who have and have-not is based on personal choices. It is not based on income distribution.

You cannot rise above what you believe you are worth. If you do by mistake, you will drag yourself back where you think you belong. This is the power of self-image. Unless you become a millionaire on the inside, it would be difficult for you to hold on to millions in the outside world.

You have heard the saying to cut your coat according to your size. I think otherwise. I think you should wear an oversize coat until it fits

If you don’t push yourself harder to go forward, you will remain on a spot. Just because you remain on the same spot doesn’t mean everybody else is on a spot. The world keeps moving and you are just left behind.

Poverty is in the Mind

There is serious poverty in the world. I have seen people in staggering poverty in this world. I have been to remote towns and villages in poverty-stricken areas. And so I know how real it is. But there is something I also noticed.

Money cannot solve the problems I observed in those communities. Any and every great solution to the problem will involve money one way or another. But you cannot pump money into the area and think that all will be well. I have seen people who have cash in tens of thousands of dollars who you would think are beggars. The money governments and international organizations send to those areas been eaten up by their “leaders". And the leaders still look poor in every respect. It is their business model, they look poor and keep their communities poor to keep receiving money.

This is just to show you that poverty is not a lack of money. And hence to be rich is not the presence of money. It is all in your mind. Whatever you call yourself is who you become. And who you become determines what is attracted to you.

Poverty is not real. Money is not real. It is who you are on the inside that creates the life you have on the outside.

The Secret of Royals

Royals are not raised the way everybody else is. Even today when you think modernization has caught up with the monarch arrangement, royals are still raised differently from regular people. It is because they know the value of self-image and they seek to instill it in every royal child as early as possible.

In ancient times, kings would give their heirs to tutors and governors at a very young age. The child would be trained in culture, history, battle, and administration. The child is raised to be a king. The child would be punished for doing things inconsistent with the identity of a king. The child would even be punished for behaving like other children. The tutors will keep reminding him:

You are a king, don’t act like a commoner

They are taught how not to fear. They are taught not to run from anything. They are taught how to speak. They are harshly corrected when they say what a king should not say. And by the time they are ready to ascend the throne, they are fully ready. This is because the ancients figured out that:

It is not the throne that makes the king, it is the king that makes the throne

In the same way, it is not the money that makes the person. Instead, it is the person that makes the money.

Try This Exercise

If a million dollars is going to make you drop your jaw and make your eyes lit up, it will remain far from you.

Try this exercise. Go in front of the mirror. Be serious and say this:

It is going to cost you $10,000

Try to catch your facial expression. Does your face convey the expression that the money is no big deal? As long as the money is a big deal to you, it will be hard for it to stick with you.

Maybe you did that quite well. Let’s take it a step further. In front of the mirror again, be serious, and say this:

That is $257,000. Pleasure doing business with you

Imagine yourself in a business negotiation like that where you have to say that at the end. Did you catch yourself smiling? While a smile is good, it is a betrayal at this point. You must get to the point where it is no longer a big deal.

As long as the money is a big deal to you, it won’t stick with you.

Release the Millionaire in You

Every person has a tendency to be either rich or poor. The one the environment encourages is what manifests naturally. Incidentally, most people grow up in places where poverty is encouraged.

How is poverty encouraged? It is encouraged by discrediting the rich. A community that spews hate at the rich is a community that encourages poverty. It will be very hard for someone who grew up in a community like that to become rich. This is because every time the reality gets close, they shoot themselves back down because their conscience will trigger them against becoming like the people the community hates.

This is the biggest problem of regular people breaking into wealth. Many think they are in the wrong business. But the kind of business doesn’t really matter. If one thing won’t succeed, another thing will. It is not about the company, instead, it is about the entrepreneur.

Releasing the millionaire in you is about becoming the person your mind associates with millions. You have to fool your mind into believing that you are a millionaire. Not that you will be a millionaire soon if your business works out. But you are one now. That you are one today.

If you lift yourself up to that state in your mind and stay there. You will attract the millions you desire.

Break Your Comfort

Our brains are wired primarily for survival. If you are down to your last penny and have no food to eat, you can easily figure out what to do. But if you have $10K and you want $1M, it is going to be hard for your mind to come up with something. But on the other hand, if you have a debt of $2M and you need to come up with $1M before the end of the week, it will be way easier.

The keyword here is the comfort zone. Your comfort zone creates your financial reality. You must constantly move past your comfort zone to make progress in life. In other words, if you don’t do things that scare you financially it is a sign that you are not making progress.

Of course, not everything you do will end up fine. In fact, many of them will end up where you don’t want. But the few ones that succeed will cover up for the failures and go farther than you expect. But you have to first let the millionaire in you out.

Learn to talk about money you want to be associated with without showing any happy expression. Practice in front of the mirror and practice when talking casually with friends. Let the millionaire in you come up to the surface.

How much money you have is in direct proportion to how much money your self-image can support you talk about. If you talk about $1M as if it is the biggest deal in the world, it will remain that way for you.

But if you release the millionaire in you and $1M is no big deal, then getting it won’t be a big deal too.

I rest my case
