The million-dollar question

?? Figuring out AI in proposals so you don't have to. I believe we, the proposal professionals, have to lead this revolution so AI works for (and not against) us. Grab your free tools and insights below ??

The Proposals Tech Bit of the Month
This is the million-dollar question that no one in the proposals industry knows the answer to:
“What will bidding and proposals look like in ten years?”
What follows is my educated guess based on all the insights I've gained with my stuff.
I’d bet we’ll have little changes in the number of jobs but a drastic change in tasks because of the following effects AI is having in business.
First, the most obvious one: AI can take over or speed up a lot of tasks people do today, so organizations will put people on higher-value tasks.
Second, a less intuitive one but that has been proven in several studies already: AI acts as a big leveler because the people who get the biggest boost are the poor performers.
Professionals with the weakest skills will be able to take on more difficult tasks, so those who are the highest performers today will be focused on even higher-value activities.
What are those higher-value activities?
My guess is client insights, data curation, decision-making, bidding strategy, improving offerings, compliance systems, pricing intelligence, bid/no bid, and partnerships.
More sales and biz dev; less writing and paperwork.
But, hey!
Take this with a grain of salt, because, as Amara’s Law has shown us over and over:
“We tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run and underestimate the effect in the long run”.
So, long story short, we don’t have a clue! ??
But if you plan to keep working, understanding the most advanced AI capabilities seems like a good bet. Here is a way to start >>
The Proposals Tip of the Month
Since a few weeks ago, I’ve been back to taking non-demos demos.
Yes, I know. Let me explain.
I hate taking software demos as a customer, which is why the DeepRFP trial is such a hands-on process (the fact that the tools are super easy to use also helps a lot).
However, I love it when experts from those same software companies (not the sales reps) help me explore my particular case and share practical insights that are not unique to their product.
That’s what I call it a non-demo demo. Anyhow, this piece isn’t about that but about what peers are asking me in these calls.
It’s not the most frequent question, but I get it asked a lot:

"How can we use AI to bid more?"
My answer:
"Don’t do that, yet."
Bidding for more contracts because you now have the time, thanks to AI-powered tools, shouldn’t be your focus. Instead, invest that time in:
In the future, when you’ve exhausted the quick wins and improvements that AI unlocks for you, and your team and proposals are way better than today, then you can explore bidding for more.
Whenever you’re ready to start, I’ve put together this for you >
