The Millennium Challenge Corporation is an agency of the US Gov’t, created by the American Congress in 2004, dedicated to foreign aid initiatives in very marginalized countries. However, MCC only works with those countries committed to “good governance, economic freedom, and investments in their citizens”. Hence, a win-win solution to those countries willing to cooperate while adhering to the selection requirements.
MCC has thus far “approved over $10B in compact and threshold programs worldwide” in areas of agriculture and irrigation, transportation (roads, bridges, ports), water supply and sanitation, access to health, finance and enterprise development, anticorruption initiatives, land right and access, and access to education.
In short, “MCC’s mission is to reduce poverty through economic growth”.
