As an older millennial navigating the ever-evolving workforce, I've observed an intriguing dichotomy in the resilience of the emerging GenZ. Steven Bartlett, a seasoned entrepreneur, once remarked that GenZ might be the least resilient generation in the workforce.
But let's not rush to judgment. There's more to this generation than meets the eye.
GenZ's upbringing in a world of instant information and social media has its drawbacks. The lack of tough love in schools and colleges might have left them less prepared for the harsh realities of the working world. Their tech-first communication approach, while efficient, sometimes translates to a deficit in interpersonal skills.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge the positive traits GenZ brings to the table. They speak up and give feedback without hesitation, displaying a refreshing clarity. Armed with extensive knowledge and better career counseling, they possess a clear-headedness that can be an asset. GenZ is not afraid to take risks, showcasing an entrepreneurial mindset that is welcome today.
Yet, there's a flip side. The demand for instant gratification, fueled by social media, has led to inflated expectations. When faced with the common crises of adulthood, mental health struggles can ensue. It's a challenge, but not an insurmountable one.

Today, GenZ is pushing boundaries. They're founding companies, ex- Stripe, Postman, etc., demanding tech advancements and staying updated on the latest business trends through social media. Their openness to experimenting with careers and continuous skill development is a big accelerator in driving change.
For older millennials like me, it's a call to bridge the gap. GenZ needs to embrace the importance of mental toughness and hone interpersonal skills. As older generations, we can share our experiences, providing mentorship and guidance during challenging economic times.
On the corporate front, modernization is key. Many are already adapting with inclusive programs and a tech-first approach. We can achieve success collaboratively by combining GenZ's creative attitude with corporate advancements.
Let's not label GenZ as the least resilient. Instead, let's acknowledge their strengths and work together. The key is a symbiotic relationship where the wisdom of the past and the dynamism of the present converge, creating a workforce ready to face any challenge. It's not about one generation being better than the other; it's about understanding and learning from each other.
