As a leader, take the time to acknowledge their strengths, and personality traits and how they would mesh well with certain positions within your company. Communication is key and they should know that you care about their opinions.
How? It is simply: talk with each of them
Casual conversations will teach you things about your team members that you would otherwise never know -- their interests and passions outside of work, their backgrounds, likes, dislikes and everything in between. Engaged, motivated workers have higher employee satisfaction, which leads to enthusiasm in their role and overall company growth in the form of higher retention and lower turnover; higher productivity; increased profitability; less absenteeism, and increased employee loyalty.
My holiday wish for us all is that each generation of workers come together for the collective good in 2019 and beyond.
