Millennial Fieldnotes #11: You Have More Time Than You Think

We spend an average of 144 minutes a day on social media.

144 minutes = 2 hours and 24 minutes.

Batman Begins has a run time of 140 minutes

Walking from Paya Lebar to Pasir Ris MRT takes 141 minutes.

You can use that time to do the following:

  • Go for a 20-minute jog and spend 15 minutes after to execute some bodyweight exercises.
  • Spend 30 minutes to read 20 pages of a book a day.
  • Take 10 minutes to do something small and nice for someone. Be it writing a well-thought-out text or making coffee for your loved one.

And still have 69 minutes (1 Hour and 9 minutes) to entertain yourself on your social media apps.

The basic idea is this - you probably have more time than you think. All you need to do is be intentional. Don't make mindless consumption your default. Make meaningful activities your default.
