Over the course of time, each one of us would have achieved a variety of accolades, appreciations, undergone transformations, suffered failures, stunned, and gone through several other feelings – positive & negative.
So, what qualifies for an event to be earmarked as a special one or worthy of a milestone?
Let us start with a couple of questions to ask ourselves: What is a milestone? Why is a milestone important?
Come on, give it a thought. :-/
Hope that you remember the simple mathematics/physics concept we studied in middle/high school – Points of inflection.
Am sure you use it even today if you intend to ensure process quality (rule of 5), or statistically evaluate data for detecting trends.
So, what is a point of inflection?
Lot of questions today, eh! :) A point of inflection is that point on a smooth plane curve where there is a change in curvature. All of us go through phases where we keep racking up wins, or keep suffering disappointments. If we plot every event with a outcome on a graph against time, and we join them with a smooth line, we get our curve. Once the events are connected, we can see the points where the trajectory changed. These points are the milestones of our lives.
For, every change in direction is accompanied by a decision/action/practice/input that influenced the event succeeding it. Suppose we want to keep moving ahead with victories, we must continue to do what we are doing right. However, this may not help you continue on the upward path for long if you do not adapt. You will face failure at some point, if you are observant and intelligent and intent on rectifying mistakes, you will notice that you just had a point of inflection. You can correct your path by adjusting yourself at the current milestone which is on the descent. Such a point can be called as the point of reflection.
Every person goes through several points of inflection, and every curve’s trajectory has a story to tell. However, every person decides if they want to have a point of reflection. Every point of reflection/inflection is a milestone. There are several ways of how one can progress depending predominantly on attitude and a little contribution from aptitude. Shown below are few examples for you to ponder over.
You decide how you grow, you decide how you go. And let me create a law for myself,
For every point of reflection, there is always a point of inflection. – Sanjeev Bhushan

3 年Yes. I missed point of reflection few times. true that we need to introspect and change the coarse of line. In life all is experience. No such thing called fault until we agree. Good ...
