Do you believe that you can’t be conned? Maria Konnikova’s book The Confidence Game may have you rethinking that notion! The book delves into some interesting stories of actual cons and takes a look at psychology of the con artist. Why do people fall for cons? 1) they can be very hard to spot, 2) many people seem to be generally optimistic, so we may see things with rose colored glasses, and 3) a lot of folks out there do not believe in that old adage “it is too good to be true”. While I am happy that so many people are pretty optimistic, be sure to be on the lookout for those con artists!

News coverage of the California wildfires has been a little lighter this week, but several of the fires are still active, including “Thomas Fire” which started on December 4th and is still burning.
