Mild weather continues over the Southeast US into early next week before a decided turn to colder weather
For the 2nd day in a row afternoon temperatures across much of the Southeast made us forget that we turn the calendar page to December later this week. 70 degrees was registered in parts of Alabama, and the 80 degree mark was eclipsed in parts of Texas. A weak front will usher in slightly cooler air from west to east the rest of this week, but even then, temperatures will run a little above seasonal averages. However a more significant change to colder weather will take place over the next two weeks. The change to colder will likely occur in waves, with the coldest weather for Alabama and surrounding areas probably coming the week after next. The core of the coldest air will head to the northeast and Middle Atlantic States, where it may turn downright frigid.
