I'm happy to share my post and script on migrating the older V1 generation VMs to V2. It wasn't very easy, but the post and the script made it easy. ???
Microsoft has provided different VM sizes over the last years and also introduced the VM Generation V2 at the end of 2019. V2 VMs are different from V1 VMs and have the following advantages:
Today, I expect that the most deployed VMs are V2, but I still see older V1 versions - including in my own environment. For example, I have several Golden Masters for Azure Virtual Desktop running Windows 10 22/h2 Multi-User. We still see V1 types because of the missing simple migration path. There is no native way in the Azure Portal to do this.
Check out my post about the migration. It's also handy for preparing older VMs to upgrade from Windows 10 multi-user to Windows 11 multi-use.

1 年I have multiple W10 gen1 on AVD environment. Very useful! ??
As always, great share. Insightful, educational, and generous. Sometimes I wonder...where do you find the time?
