lets understand the perspective area of CAF framework

Perspectives in the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework

The AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (AWS CAF) organizes guidance into six areas of focus, called perspectives. Each perspective is used to create work streams that uncover gaps in existing skills and processes, which are recorded as inputs. These perspectives cover distinct responsibilities owned or managed by functionally related stakeholders.

In general, the Business, People, and Governance Perspectives focus on business capabilities; while the Platform, Security, and Operations Perspectives focus on technical capabilities.

Business Perspective: The Business Perspective helps organizations move from separate strategies for business and IT, to a business model that integrates IT strategy. Agile IT strategies are aligned to support business outcomes, as they can adjust to business needs or technical capabilities as they change.

The framework covers, IT Finance, IT Strategy, Business Risk Management Team collectively cover the business perspective and calculate the benefits delivered with the adoption both at business and end-user standpoint

Common Organizational Roles: Business Managers, Finance Managers, Budget Owners, and Strategy Stakeholders

People Perspective: The People Perspective helps Human Resources (HR) and personnel management prepare their teams for cloud adoption by updating staff skills and organizational processes to include cloud-based competencies.

Areas within people management like Resource Management, Incentive, and Career Management helps understand and forecast better new personnel needs, compensation structure, career development Program, and training needs at various levels for an efficient cloud-based model adoption

Common Organizational Roles: Human Resources, Staffing, and People Managers.

Governance Perspective: The Governance Perspective integrates IT Governance and Organizational Governance. It provides guidance on identifying and implementing best practices for IT Governance, and on supporting business processes with technology

Areas like Portfolio Management (to provide a mechanism to manage desired business outcomes), Program and Project Management (to help manage projects using the right methodologies for deriving cost and benefits), Business Performance Measurement (to help measure positive/negative impact on business objectives) are covered under governance perspective.

Common Organizational Roles: CIO, Program Managers, Project Managers, Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, and Portfolio Managers

Platform Perspective: The Platform Perspective helps design, implement, and optimize the architecture of AWS technology based on business goals and objectives. It helps provide strategic guidance for the design, principles, tools, and policies used to define AWS infrastructure. It also includes principles and patterns for communicating target state environment, implementing new solutions on the cloud, and migrating on-premises workloads to cloud

Systems and Solution Architecture, provisioning of compute power, Network equipment, storage devices, DB, etc. to develop new processes for provisioning infrastructure in a cloud environment, and Application Development to address ability to support business goals with new or updated applications and helps implement new skills and processes for SDLC.

Common Organizational Roles: CTO, IT Managers, and Solution Architects.

Security Perspective: The Security Perspective helps structure the selection and implementation of controls. This guidance makes it easier to identify areas of non-compliance and plan ongoing security initiatives, like Identity and Access Management (IAM) for authentication and authorization, Detective controls to help identify potential security incidents, aid in Infrastructure Security, Compliance with Control Methodologies, Data Protection and Incident Response (to help define and execute responses to security incidents)

Common Organizational Roles: CISO, IT Security Managers, and IT Security Analysts.

Operations Perspective: The Operations Perspective helps you to run, use, operate, and recover IT workloads to levels that meet the requirements of your business stakeholders. Insights gained through the Operations Perspective define your current operating procedures as well as process changes and training needed for successful cloud adoption. Well-managed IT operations support the operations of the business from planning and sustaining, through change and incident management.

Operations perspective includes areas like Service Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Resource (IT/Cloud) Inventory Management, Release/Change Management, Reporting and Analytics, Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery and IT Service Catalog which helps offer cloud services to the businesses using a model that can help to improve efficiency of providing IT services to the business and end-users.

Common Organizational Roles: IT Operations Managers and IT Support Managers
