Mighty Mac
RevSandra Follett
Minister and CEO (retired) at The Mysticenter for Healing and Spirituality
The waters of Michigan and Huron writhing beneath it
He emerges from the spray as the two converge
The depths below bearing the bones of his makers
Lost too quickly to have been collected, saved
Above, his towers clad in pure white ascend
Up into the clouds on most days as they hold taut
The spans of heavy cables, from which the bridge suspends
All manner of vehicles fly by on the roadbed
Carefully staying in their lanes, tires moaning
The grand bridge known as the Mighty Mac stands tall
Connecting the upper and lower peninsulas of Michigan
Making the two, one, surrounded by a hint of mystery
That only the Great Lakes can bestow
The graveyards of many shipwrecks all tolled
The bridge the protector of the travelers
A shining beacon spanning the straits of Mackinac
