Midwest Environmentalist News: January 2025 Issue
Statement on this week's proposed cuts to federal grants
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization managing multiple federal grants, Delta Institute is actively navigating the impacts of the several executive orders issued from the federal government over the past ten days. Moreover, we work with dozens of other nonprofit partners and government agencies who have been similarly affected. We are currently awaiting further guidance on what federal grants can still move forward, given daily changing developments.
We remain committed to our mission of collaborating with communities across the Midwest to solve complex environmental challenges, and we are working to find solutions to continue this important work. We share this statement with you, our supporters, out of transparency and accountability, as we are still considering the significant impacts that this may make on our projects and partners. In the meantime, please contact us with any questions and comments, and we also welcome charitable donations during this period of time.
Thank you again for your partnership and collaboration!

New webinar recording available: "A Novel Approach to Factor Soil Health into Michigan Farmland Appraisals"
If soil health can be considered as a property characteristic by appraisers, more farmers may adopt soil conservation practices to increase the value of their land – and provide positive benefits to the local environment in the process!
That's why we partnered with Michigan farm appraisers and soil conservationists this past year to test a proof-of-concept approach to factor soil health into the farmland valuation process on four southeastern Michigan farms. Click here to watch us unveil the results from this project in our most recent webinar.
