It's been an eventful week for developers and players, with a mixture of good and bad but thankfully no word of fresh layoffs on a significant scale. ??
In game development news, Elden Ring's tough and technically messy Shadow of the Erdtree DLC was finally released late last week, and screenshots and gameplay allegedly from an early build of a Jet Set Radio remake surfaced as well.
On the business side, Xbox head Matt Booty has suggested that leadership changes may have played a significant role in Tango Gameworks' closure. In contrast, a former Life By You developer claims that Paradox Tectonic employees were informed of job losses through a public statement from the company's CEO.
Finally, Dr Disrespect's studio, Midnight Society, ended its relationship with the streamer immediately after it was revealed that he had engaged in inappropriate conversations with a minor, which resulted in his ban from Twitch years ago. Yikes.

A former designer at Paradox Tectonic, the studio behind the canceled Sims-like Life By You, has admitted that the game's final month of development was a disaster. According to the employee, plans for an early access release were scrapped just two weeks before launch, and staff were informed of the studio's closure through a public statement.?
On the topic of closures, Xbox Games Studios' Matt Booty claims that a change in management at Tango Gameworks may have contributed to the studio's closure last month, but that other options, such as a potential sale, were also considered.
Elden Ring fans are divided about the game's first and only expansion, which launched on Friday, as its technical performance in the newly introduced area has been quite poor. Meanwhile, others have complained about its greater difficulty compared to the main game, although?some have overlooked its new mechanics.
This week's most exciting leak has been gameplay and screenshots from an alleged remake of Jet Set Radio. The images are quite old, but it has been stated that this is an unannounced project. ??

A new indie action game called The Nightscarred: Forgotten Gods?landed on our radar?this week, and people seem to be quite hyped about it!
Developed by the two-man team Shadowfall Studios, the game puts you in the shoes of the daughter of Erlik, the god of death, who uses a variety of weapons, spells, and physics-based environments to take out opponents as she attempts to restore balance to the world.
The game can be played solo or in two-player co-op, and since you can use telekinesis to lift and throw enemies and other objects, we can see this becoming a fun one to play around in! Who wouldn't want to cartoonishly launch an axe at someone? ??
The Nightscarred does not yet have a set release date, but you can?wishlist it on Steam?right now, and there are plans to bring it to Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

This newsletter has been a bit of a roller coaster, but it is technically layoff-free, even if learning about the background of studio closures is very frustrating to hear.
At least we now have Elden Ring's DLC to return to, so we can express our rage and possibly leave an unhappy Steam review about how difficult it is.
