??? MIDSUMMER MOMENTS ??
Greenheart
We are a full service social & environmental impact consultancy, helping businesses to go beyond sustainability-as-usual
The Summer Solstice is a time of intense energy and my goodness don't we need it right now? Change-as-usual is exhausting at the best of times but with the biggest election year in history upon us (half the world's populations heading to the polls!) it feels once again like we are at a critical point for humanity. The political choices in the UK seem increasingly bizarre (and, some in our space would argue, unappealing) but as promised last month we've found some tools to help you vote for the best outcomes for business, people and planet?(see below ??).?
In other news, the Greenheart team headed to the inspirational Cabilla Cornwall this month for our Summer Gathering where we spent time immersed in nature exploring some of the high level issues that matter to us all. Our commitment to nature (article link below), how to ensure a just transition to a low carbon economy, psychological safety and equity, diversity and inclusion were all on the agenda. Keep an eye on our blog for the insights we felt worth sharing.
Also this month we're bringing you further insights into the incoming B Corp standards as well as an invitation to our (free) webinar on Climate Scenario Analysis, an increasingly important (and mandatory for some) strategic business tool. Please do make the most of our experts sharing their knowledge for free!
And finally, I wanted to share this happy snap of my recent visit to a new client in Derbyshire. It's not often I get to wear a hard hat in my job, but this company - which processes ash from incinerated household waste into construction aggregate? - is the living embodiment of a principle living systems commandment: waste = food. And not a tree in sight...

?? LEARN FROM OUR EXPERTS ??
If you're in a strategy, business planning or leadership role how strongly do the direct and indirect impacts of climate change feature in your long term planning?
All of these could impact your business in the future but the chances are that current business planning scenarios don't include them all. Join our Planetary Health team to explore how Climate Scenario Analysis can be used to inform long-range strategic planning.
?GREENHEART'S COMMITMENT TO NATURE
It's not just those running for office who have a manifesto, we do to! In it we commit to "protect, nurture and learn from nature giving it a voice so that it informs every decision we take." If you'd like to know what we mean, and how we'll do it, read on...

UK GENERAL ELECTION POLICIES & PROMISES?
Every ??vote ? counts
?
The 4th July 2024 will host the first general election in over a decade. There is a widely held feeling in the world of sustainability that UK policy has a long way to go to ensure we are on track for a safe and habitable world in the future.?
As promised last month, we've been eagerly keeping an eye on the main party manifestos, policies and promises. Here are two key resources that you might find useful when researching where to cast your vote:?
? Edie has created this matrix of policies and promises for each main party against a list of alphabetised topics from Agriculture to Water.
? Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace have collaborated on a scoring system to measure the anticipated impact of each parties output on four key areas. They say:
"the Green Party and the Liberal Democrats have lots to be proud of. On climate, nature, homes and justice they’re both making the bold pledges we need to see if we’re to secure a better future for everyone in a way that’s fast but fair – making sure that those with the most, contribute the most. We look forward to seeing them campaign for these in parliament."
