MIDNIGHT TUNES FROM GEORGIA
MIDNIGHT TUNES FROM GEORGIA is a television pilot for a romantic comedy that was an official selection of the Script Summit and New York Movie Awards. It deals with three epic themes: obsession (Moby Dick), last hurrah (Lonesome Dove), and lost youth (Dazed and Confused).
LOGLINE: Three lifelong friends with diverse backgrounds head to Hollywood to reboot the cable show they hosted reviewing music videos growing up in small town Georgia.
The romantic comedy was inspired by the:
*need to quote from popular music and movies (mostly a guy thing);
*overwhelming passion to have another chance at the love who got away (we’ve all been there); and
*burning desire to be young and stupid again (within reason as its only fun until someone loses any eye!)
Jay Jones, the main character in MIDNIGHT TUNES FROM GEORGIA, is an African American studio executive in LA fast approaching 40 who realizes he can get his chance, probably the last time, for all three by greenlighting the show he used to host on cable back home in Georgia with his two best buds and their girlfriends (who later became their wives). That show is MIDNIGHT TUNES FROM GEORGIA.
LA 2020 is different from GA 2000 but one thing that has not changed in two decades is Jay’s love for his high school girlfriend that he left behind for film school at USC, who is also the sister of his best friend from back home and co-host of the show. He often wonders if he would have been better off going to Morehouse College in Atlanta with his best friend and being a "Morehouse Man of Distinction," too. Jay is easily recognizable as the loveable rake from so many popular sitcoms.
Jay also loves his two best friends from back home in Georgia, but guys don’t talk about that type of thing.
But it is reflected in the way that each can finish the other’s quotes from their favorite movies. But nothing is every easy when in involves love and moving to LA from Georgia (as Gladys Night sang about it in "Midnight Train to Georgia"), but it can be very, very entertaining. And very funny as a romantic comedy...and if there is one thing needed now of television, it is another must-watch romantic comedy!
Please enjoy MIDNIGHT TUNES FROM GEORGIA...thank you for your time and consideration!
