Midnight Emailer? Snooze it!
Whenever you send out a late-night emails or slack messages, consider scheduling them for the next day at 9:30am
HERE'S WHY
1."I'M WATCHING THE *** QUEEN'S GAMBIT !#@)*$!&"
Your peers' phone is probably on with work email, and your latest 'Re: Quarterly Business Review - next steps' update might not blend well with their existing Netflix habits.
2. "IS HE EXPECTING ME TO RESPOND NOW?!"
Others may feel compelled to respond there and then, or maybe just uncomfortable if they don't. Either way, you've just penetrated their time off-work. You don't want to do that.
3. "TOMORROW NIGHT I'LL BE THE ONE SENDING THE EMAIL BLAST!"
As a result of your owly comms, some people may now feel that it is implicitly expected of them to work beyond conventional hours. Here you may be setting a bad standard for others. Especially if you're a people manager.
4. BONUS: YOU HAVE TIME CAN CHANGE YOUR MIND
Briefly scan you Scheduled folder first thing tomorrow morning. Ask yourself, 'how much of this is really send-worthy'. You might be surprised.

1 年This has changed my life completely when it was added. Until then, I used to keep things in the draft and send it in the moring. Now all I need is for whatsapp to do the same (without any added apps).
