Midlands Azure Meetup - May 2023
We had a great night at Alpha Tower for the May Meetup of the Midlands Azure User Group on Wednesday May 3rd 2023. Apologies, but due to Company Day, Holiday and Covid-19 it's taken me a while to complete post-processing.
Thanks very much to Jason Timmins ?? for presenting on #azurequantum. It was a great session for many of us with no real knowledge of the subject. You can watch the recording here.
Also thanks to Ha Duong for his session on #reliability. This session provided some real world patterns and examples that will help us all to develop more reliable solutions on Azure and elsewhere. You can watch the recording here. If you are looking at reliability its also worth watching CSA#1 Michael Royster talk about it here.
It was great to see old friends and colleagues Andrew Nash , Nathan Kitchen and Inderjit Singh at the meet-up and we'd love to see more familiar faces at future events. We have recently tried to get more efficient with event planning and we have published the dates for all the events for the remainder of 2023. Join the Meet-up Group (we currently have 1051 members) and register for our forthcoming events.
We, the organisers ( Nick Hill , Phil Marsh , John Metzger and Mohammad Bhuiyan ) were especially pleased to get another offer to present from the community. You can watch Maciej Sondej presenting on Azure Service Bus as an Event Messages transmission belt alongside our long-term friend Simon Thurman who will be talking about Green Software Engineering at our next event on June 7th. You can register for that one here.
Planning for is going well, but we still do have opportunities to present, so if you'd like to be involved just DM one of the organisers with an abstract for your session a short bio and preferred dates. ( Chris Germany , Joe Hubbert )
I have just worked out that May's session was our 28th and I would like to thank Paul Johnson for attending pretty much every one (it doesn't go unnoticed).
Finally, a big thanks to Chris Weston , CDIO at Jumar for both attending and making the event possible by paying for room hire, refreshments and quiz prizes without ever asking anything in return. As usual there is a special mention for Mohammad Bhuiyan for providing the most amazing samosas (which are reason enough to attend even if you don't watch the sessions!)
