Midjourney is an AI program that generates images from textual descriptions, allowing users to visualize concepts by inputting prompts. It serves as a creative tool for artists and designers, leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms to produce diverse and innovative visuals.
- More coherent images (arms, legs, hands, bodies, plants, animals, etc)
- Much better image quality (reduced pixel artifacts, enhanced textures, skin, 8bit retro, etc)
- More precise, detailed, and correct small image features (eyes, small faces, far away hands, etc)
- New upscalers with much better image / texture quality
- Roughly 25% faster for standard image jobs
- Improved text accuracy (when drawing words via “quotations” in prompts)
- A new personalization model with improved nuance, surprise, and accuracy
- Personalization code versioning (use any personalization code from old jobs to use the personalization model and data from that job)
- A new --q 2 mode which takes 25% longer to (sometimes) add more texture at the cost of reduced image coherence
- Things should look “generally more beautiful” across the board
- V6.1 currently does not have a new inpainting/outpainting model so if you use zoom/reframe/repaint/vary region it will fall back to the V6.0 model
- If you want to change back to V6 just go to /settings and click V6 or type –v 6 after your job (or click the settings panel on the website)
Future plans: MJ will likely release a V6.2 model in the next month or so with further improvements but first there is a need to gather as much data as possible of people using V6.1. So as of today it will be the default model on Midjourney for all users.
