Every week we highlight a unique way economic developers have added Localintel’s location marketing tools to their website to promote their community's advantages to site selectors, investors and businesses around the world.
This week’s economic development team is Middle Michigan Development Corporation (MMDC).
What the team needed
The team at MMDC were developing a new website to promote why Clare and Isabella counties are the right place for businesses to locate and expand. It was essential the website do 2 things:?
Landing page
Instead of using an old-school static image, the team at Middle Michigan have embedded Localintel’s innovative new Logistics and Accessibility Advantages tool into their landing page (https://mmdc.org).
This interactive tool is designed to keep site selectors engaged and makes it easy for them to appreciate the extensive networks that make Middle Michigan an attractive place to locate a business.
The Logistics and Accessibility Advantages tool shows Middle Michigan is a 2-hour drive from Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport which then provides connections to 21 international and 114 domestic airports, including London, Toronto and Paris. ?It also shows the nearby regional airport of MBS International Airport which has connection to Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta and Saint Paul.
Middle Michigan promotes its close proximity to key cities within the logistics network. The user can see how far you can drive from Middle Michigan in 2, 4 and 8 hours.
Despite being inland, Middle Michigan has excellent access to the Port of Alpena and Port of Toledo.
Logistics and Accessibility Advantages tool does a great job at highlighting how easy businesses in Middle Michigan can move goods via the extensive network of rail and major intermodals.

Despite being in a regional location, the landing page can show site selectors, investors and businesses that a large number of internet providers are available throughout both Clare and Isabella counties.
Middle Michigan’s economic development team know that site selectors have limited time to investigate options for their clients and they need to get key information quickly. That is why they embedded Localintel’s new Community Profile into its landing page. They opted to provide a unique profile for each county.
The Community Profile provides key economic and demographic indicators about each county’s economy, residents, households, dwellings, construction activity, workforce and livability.
Explore Our Communities Page
Because Middle Michigan serves a large rural area and have many small municipal partners, they were thrilled that Localintel helped them to capture profiles for all of their communities. Though the municipalities they serve are small, each of them present unique opportunities for business leaders and these are now clearly showcased.
