During organisational transformation, culture and climate become unstable. Maintaining the status quo often falls within the remit of middle management.
This highlights one aspect of the evolving role of the manager, and the ever-increasing list of responsibilities they face.
Countering these statements, we have quotes such as:
"Firing middle managers is good for business" & "The end of the middle manager!"
I'm a 3rd-year business management student, writing my dissertation on middle management, and I would really appreciate your input: I have a very quick, simple questionnaire that I would love for you to participate in. The questionnaire is generalised toward the overall culture, but I have included a 'Further comments' section where you can put your own thoughts as to why you think disengagement in organisations is growing, especially in middle management positions.
So if you have five minutes to spare, please help a student out!
